PNG and JPG solve different problems
JPG is designed for photographs and continuous-tone images where smaller files matter more than perfect pixel preservation. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it useful for graphics, screenshots, logos, and interface assets.
Neither format is always better. Choose based on the image content and where it will be used.
Which is better for a website?
For photographs, JPG or WebP often produces smaller files. For transparent graphics, PNG or WebP is usually more appropriate.
